My name is Victoria, I was graduated as Bachelor of Arts Honour in Queen’s University in Canada. I was major in Film and Media study for four years, and mainly focus on the short film production, 3D animation production, Augmented Reality practices, Curatorial practices, as well we film critics and film history analysis. In my last year at Queen’s, I worked individually under the guidance of professor Neven Lochhead to produce sound synthesis by using Logic Pro, making a surround sound installation to create a sound-based project called “Nightmare”. After graduation, inspired by my favourite journalist Liu, Xiaoqian, I decided to apply for the Master of Journalism program in HKU to have a in-depth learning on journalism to get a professional training as a journalist. I worked as news assistant in CCTV and operation assistant in iQIYI North America Brand. And I also worked as collaborative curator with Mexico Taxcala Museum 3 in my last year at school to make online exhibition.
Since I am a talktive and energetic person, I understand that communication is the key to help me build up connections with strangers, and it’s also the key to help me discover the world around me. From then on, I have chatted with the homeless in Toronto, understand that there is a sub society existed and constructed by these homeless people under this prosperous city, watched a simple but impressive wedding ceremony of a 19-year-old couple in North Korea, listening to a Nicaraguan exchange student share with me how he was owed a scholarship by their local government for three years, and I have even “chatted” with a French lady on my way to Los Angeles by using body language and some simple English words when we both don’t understand each other’s language for two hours.
There are more experiences that I haven’t covered, some of them are dangerous and some are fascinating but all of these experiences made me realize that I was well protected due to the lack of imagination to the world.
