Clara Zhang
Student of Master of Journalism
I’m Clara Zhang, Chinese name is Zhang Hanchi. I come from Daqing, Heilongjiang Province, the northernmost place of China. It cultivated my enthusiastic personality and open-minded attitude.
I graduated from the Communication University of Zhejiang and majored in bilingual broadcast. Now, I am a JMSC student. In my undergraduate tenure, I interned at many media outlets with different roles, from journalist and radio personality to new media operation. I am passionate about working in media. Moreover, I am a vlogger on TikTok and Xiaohongshu now.
I love traditional culture and ethnic minorities, and I also conducted plenty of fieldwork and ethnographic studies. I have visited many rural places, such as Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, Inner Mongolia Autonomous, and Zhejiang Province. I have interviewed numerous cultural inheritors and over ten local minorities.
These experiences have deepened my resolve to give voices to more minority cultures in my future career. And I also believe MJ program is essential for my future practices as a socially responsible and qualified journalist to unlock the silenced voices.
