I am Wang Yifei, you can also call me Olivia. Now I am studying Master of Journalism programme in HKU.
If it has affected me in any way, exposure to cultural and human diversity has fuelled my desire to see the world. Distance and a fickle place of residence have allowed me to constantly take in human differences and be quicker to embrace, understand and accept more gaps and differences.
I was curious about what was happening in the world at any given moment and wanted to be there first. But I’m used to seeing the world from a spectator’s perspective, which is demonstrated by the fact that I’m interested in things labelled as controversial without engaging in arguments. Spectating and gathering opinions is more of a subconscious behaviour for me. Perceiving this made me realise that I seemed to be well suited to journalism.
