In addition to career practice, I also strived to be involved in social scientific research. During my temporary study at Renmin University of China in 2021, I participated in two research activities concerning social science. One was on the impact of algorithms on journalism industry, in which I was responsible for literature research and data collection. In April 2022, the research results were published in the form of papers on the most authorised academic journal in Guangdong province, with my name listed as the third author. The other research paper was to describe the current situation of the domestic journalism industry and analyse the career development prospects based on interviews with resigned reporters. I undertake data collection and interview work, and the research results was published in the form of papers in CSSCI core journals ‘The Journalist’ in May 2022, and I was listed as the third author. In the latter study, I learned about the professional dilemma and distress of mainland journalists through interviews and found that the news censorship environment and journalism career scope of understanding will have a huge impact on journalists’ journalistic ideals.
