Wenxuan Huang grew up in Guangdong Province, China. He got his journalism bachelor degree in CUZ and film production MFA degree in HKBU. He once participated in the production of TV shows on Zhejiang Satellite TV for a period of time in 2017. After his graduation for master, he worked in the PhoenixTV Current Affairs and Specials department, where he had 2 years of work experience in the daily news program and both short and long feature documentary production, which gave him a certain understanding of different groups of people in Hong Kong. He’s particularly interested in natural themes and minority groups. His short documentary “Xun Lin (Guardians of the Scales)”, which records the efforts of the informants and local police to combat poaching pangolins, was nominated for the China Documentary Academy Award and selected for the Guangzhou International Documentary Festival. His another important work, “Son’s Confession”, explores the LGBTQ community and the constraints of family ties in East Asia, which was awarded the Silver Prize for Outstanding Thesis Project (Production) at the HKBU Academy of Film.
