Master of Journalism
News in Hong Kong
My name is Mao Lanqing and I graduated from the School of Journalism and Communication at Peking University. My major is journalism, and I am particularly interested in writing in-depth reports.
As Wilbur Schramm, the founder of communication studies, suggested, the students a communication school should cultivate are the ones most suitable for comprehending and discussing the world they live in. Inspired by this idea, I chose to major in journalism after a year of general studies in the School of Journalism and Communication.
I hope to present correct, accurate and impartial news to my audience as a reference to their judgement of the world around them.

The Silver Pheasant, the provincial bird of Guangdong Province, boasts a distinctive appearance. Unlike the female, the male boasts bright red, exposed eyes and feet that are particularly eye-catching. This male bird is grooming its feathers with ease, even though there is a tourist holding a camera pointed at him just half a meter away. (Source: Freya Mao)

The two black-capped lories are having lunch at the feeding station. The feeding spot they’ve chosen offers pineapples, papayas, and apples. Their feathers are brightly colored, with the red feathers on their heads and abdomens standing out in sharp contrast to their green wings and black eye rings, making them particularly eye-catching.
