About me

Simmy Xie's photo by Katherine

Simmy Xie used to study Public Relations at Nanchang University and is currently a Master’s student in journalism at the University of Hong Kong.

She dreams of becoming an all-rounded journalist. “The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step,” and she is committed to taking those steps every day.

Simmy has gained valuable experience through a variety of internships. She has worked as an intern journalist at local newspapers and radio and TV stations. Additionally, she has embraced the new media era by working as an external affairs intern (PR & GR) at Tesla and as a policy operations intern at TikTok. These experiences have given her a unique view of both traditional and new media areas.

She hopes to acquire more skills and tools through this multimedia course to aid her on her journey. She is excited to learn and grow alongside her classmates.

Outside of her studies, she is a huge cat lover! In her free time, she loves photographing stray cats, and her SD card is filled with over three thousand pictures of them. She also enjoys exploring new restaurants and trying different cuisines.
