Due to the epidemic, Hong Kong’s tourism industry has faced significant challenges. However, in recent years, the Hong Kong government has taken proactive steps to rejuvenate the sector by organizing vibrant urban activities and actively promoting tourism policies.
The requirement for visitors to furnish an arrival or departure card is cancelled with immediate effect on 16th Oct 2024 as stipulated in Policy Address 2024, to facilitate a faster and more convenient immigration clearance. According to official data from the Hong Kong Tourism Board, the number of visitors to Hong Kong in 2024 has been steadily increasing month by month, with mainland tourists still making up the largest proportion. This trend is contributing significantly to the recovery of Hong Kong’s tourism in 2024. Looking ahead, attracting more international tourists while enhancing the quality of services for mainland visitors may become the next key focus for Hong Kong’s tourism industry.
