Yim Tin Tsai, also known as Salted Field Island, is a small island located in the inner sea of Sai Kung, Hong Kong, about 3 kilometers from the Sai Kung town center. Today, Yim Tin Tsai preserves its historical and cultural heritage, including Hong Kong’s only natural salt field and the well-preserved century-old St. Joseph’s Chapel.
To promote the cultural and artistic significance of Yim Tin Tsai, the Hong Kong Tourism Board organized the Yim Tin Tsai Arts Festival from 2019 to 2021. The festival’s theme, “Sky, Earth, and People,” invited both local and international artists, young people, and villagers to collaborate, transforming the island into an open-air museum that integrates art, religion, culture, heritage, and nature.
