Ocean Park's Animal Collection

A two year comparison of OCP animals

Foster Sustainability: A world where we take action to conserve our environment and grow positively with nature.

In April 2024, the prestigious Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) granted Ocean Park another five-year accreditation term, extending its continuous accreditation to 22 years. This recognition reflects Ocean Park’s strong commitment to science-based animal care, veterinary excellence, conservation, and education, placing it among the world’s top zoos and aquariums.

This achievement coincides with a steady growth in Ocean Park’s animal collection. As of July 1, 2023, the Park housed 6,515 animals, increasing to 6,753 by June 30, 2024. Fish remained the largest group (over 5,800), followed by birds and amphibians. Amphibians recorded the highest births (101), while fish led in acquisitions (660) and mortalities (391). Birds had the most dispositions (65). Despite some losses, the overall animal population grew, highlighting Ocean Park’s ongoing dedication to animal welfare and biodiversity.
