My friend Cara came to visit me in Hong Kong. She was my best friend from university, and we spent four years abroad together, like family. In the afternoon, she stepped out of my home. We rode to the airport together, chatting between moments of quiet reflection. In the car, she scrolled through her phone, perhaps replaying memories of the trip. At the check-in counter, she carefully sorted her documents while I stood nearby. Finally, at the security checkpoint, we shared a tight hug, reluctant to part. She turned back with a smile and a wave before disappearing beyond the gate. It was a farewell, but not a goodbye—just a pause until we meet again.
