{"id":1811,"date":"2025-02-11T14:21:13","date_gmt":"2025-02-11T14:21:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jmsc6110a.com\/2025b\/?p=1811"},"modified":"2025-02-11T14:21:13","modified_gmt":"2025-02-11T14:21:13","slug":"the-air-raid-shelter-on-belchers-street","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jmsc6110a.com\/2025b\/the-air-raid-shelter-on-belchers-street\/","title":{"rendered":"The air-raid shelter on Belcher&#8217;s Street"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span>Belcher&#8217;s Street is a major road in Kennedy Town, Central and Western Hong Kong, named after Edward Belcher, a British army officer who surveyed Victoria Harbor in 1841, in honor of his contribution to the early defense of Hong Kong.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Between 1940 and 1941, a large number of air-raid shelters were built in Hong Kong to defend against Japanese attacks. Today, we can still see many historical relics from that time. The air-raid shelter on Belcher\u2019s Street was built at that time and is now an important part of the Belcher Battery ruins, which is of great historical value.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>At present, the location of the Belcher air-raid shelter is close to the West Wan Kai Fong Welfare Association, and the entrance has been closed.
