Sun Yat-sen Memorial Park,<\/strong> located along the Sai Ying Pun Promenade on Hong Kong Island’s Western District, sits adjacent to Eastern Street North and Connaught Road, near the Hong Kong Island exit of the Western Harbour Tunnel. The park features a memorial statue of Sun Yat-sen standing on its grand lawn. First opened to the public on December 1, 2002, the park was established as Sun Yat-sen spent much of his time in Hong Kong’s Central and Western District \u2013 where the park is situated \u2013 during his life. The 5-hectare park complements the Sun Yat-sen Museum housed in Kom Tong Hall within the same district, forming a commemorative ensemble. Together with the Sun Yat-sen Historical Trail, these three elements comprehensively present Dr. Sun’s revolutionary journey and ideology developed in Hong Kong.
\nThe park contains notable features including a stone carving of “\u5929\u4e0b\u4e3a\u516c” (The World Belongs to All), a bronze statue of Sun Yat-sen, and an ornamental archway bearing the same inscription. It also offers public recreational facilities such as a children’s playground, seafront promenade, basketball court, soccer field, and swimming pool complex.
\nToday, Sun Yat-sen Memorial Park has become a cherished leisure destination for residents of the Central and Western District. Even on weekday afternoons like Tuesdays, the park buzzes with activity as people relax through sunbathing, picnicking, exercising, and dog walking. More than just a memorial site, it has become an integral part of daily life for the community.<\/p>\n
