Xindi Xie, a student graduated from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, majoring in journalism. She is now pursuing a master’s degree in journalism at The University of Hong Kong.
In the summer vacation of 2020, she had the opportunity to participate in a series of activities organized by the school and interviewed journalists who had participated in the epidemic report. Some of these reporters worked in the wards, some shuttled in the streets and communities. Their stories let her have more respect for journalists, but also strengthened her belief in choosing journalism.
During the four years of undergraduate study, she has gained a basic understanding of journalism both academically and practically. However, the lack of ability makes her want to further improve herself so that she can better meet the requirements of journalists. It is also very important to understand the latest changes in the media industry, and some courses in this project also include these latest changes, which encourage her to study seriously in the postgraduate period. In addition, she hopes to have a better understanding of the production process of international news. Having an international perspective will be more beneficial to her future work.
