The Selkirk Grace is a Scottish Prayer usually recited at the beginning of a Burns Supper, before taking food, to celebrate the life and works of Robert Burns.   The Scottish pronunciation is often very different from that of the English.

Listen to the Scottish Version

“Some hae meat and canna eat,
And some wad eat that want it:
But we hae meat and we can eat
And sae the Lord be thankit.”

Listen to the English Version

“Some have meat and cannot eat,
And some cannot eat that want it;
But we have meat and we can eat
And so the Lord be thanked.”
