Adrien Carat is a mid-career journalist specialized in storytelling and currently studying at HKU Journalism.
Born and raised in Paris (France), Adrien’s journalistic journey started in 2011 in Montréal (Canada). After graduating in Journalism from Montréal University, he joined the teams of CBC-Radio Canada. This first experience in an international media company allowed him to discover the manufacturing of radio and TV. During 6 months, Adrien discovered behind the scenes, problems and situations faced by journalists on the field.
Adrien’s career continues in France from 2013 to 2021. Hired as a production assistant then as a documentary narrator, he became the youngest documentary writer to work for the French national radio, Radio France. Alongside his work and his passion for historical research and writing, Adrien has also developed a keen eye for photography.
For the last 8 years, he travelled across the world and brought back from his distant travels a large number of photographs. Some of them have been published by Geo magazine or Outdoor Magazine. Others were selected and exposed by the jury of the HSBC 2016 Reportage photography competition (young reporter category).
Since August 2021, Adrien is a full-time postgraduate student at HKU Journalism. At Hong Kong University, Adrien studies under the supervision of Professors Keith Richburg, Matt Walsh and Ross Settles.
His former editors and coworkers like to describe Adrien as a self-motivated and deadline orientated person with a passion for telling unique stories of public interest.
