Climbing the Social Ladder of Education
What limits students' ability to live out their full potentials?

What does it take to succeed at school? A lot of hard work and preferably, an advantageous family situation. These factors can greatly influence a child’s performance at school and their future prospects in society. From private tutoring to extra curricular activities to Chinese language proficiency, the influence of money and social condition on education is readily apparent in the city. This is the sad reality for children from poor or non-Chinese families, who face an uphill battle when it comes to succeeding at school. Our video takes a closer look at how Hong Kong’s education system fails to erase social barriers and contributes to social inequalities.
