A lot of hard work and preferably, an advantageous family situation. These factors can greatly influence a child\u2019s performance at school and their future prospects in society. From private tutoring to extra curricular activities to Chinese language proficiency, the influence of money and social condition on education is readily apparent in the city. This is the sad reality for children from poor or non-Chinese families, who face an uphill battle when it comes to succeeding at school.
