Dylan is an aspiring journalist with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from St. Lawrence University, a small Liberal Arts College in upstate New York. As an undergraduate, he became interested in international affairs while studying abroad in Kenya and later in Denmark. These experiences pushed him to intern for the World Bank Group in Washington, DC, and a financial enterprise in Shanghai, China. His experience in China was particularly impactful, and after graduating, he returned to Shanghai to work for a renewable energy advisory firm for a year. While he enjoyed feeling part of the global sustainability effort, he discovered the corporate world wasn’t for him, deciding to go back to school for a Master’s of Journalism. In the meantime, he moved back to the U.S. to pursue an entrepreneurial venture and to work several part-time jobs, such as a contributing editor for a grassroots journalism nonprofit.

Now enrolled in the University of Hong Kong’s Master of Journalism program, Dylan hopes to refine his writing and investigative abilities, expand his skillset, and begin a career in journalism. He believes that leveraging his degree with his former experience will make him a unique and effective reporter and storyteller. He has also retained his undergraduate passion for economics, particularly in socio and post-Keynesian economics, and hopes to incorporate this in his new career path. His other interests include photography, political economy, grassroots activism, sustainability, and issues related to globalization.
